2018冬奥会怎么写?
The 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in Pyeongchang County, South Korea from February 9 to the 25.A total of 169 events across seven sports are scheduled to take place over four weeks.
In addition to traditional Olympic Summer and Winter Games, the number of competitive days is also extended as one week will be used to stage mixed-team competitions that would have been contested by singles players at previous editions but now feature couples in two-person teams, according to the International Olympic Committee website.
To accommodate a variety of weather conditions, ski and snowboard events will start on different days depending on when the snow falls on course.
Rifle shooting will take place at an indoor venue, while archery can be staged both indoors and outdoors depending on weather forecasts.
For the first time, eSports – video games played competitively – will be part of the program with a Starcraft II contest featuring top players from South Korea, Europe and North America.
A total of 300 medals will be awarded over the period of the Games, including nine golds for eSports.
The IOC said the expanded schedule was aimed at making it “a truly global event”.
“With the new schedule we give more opportunities to OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) to show all the content they need to provide for their partners in order to promote these sports all around the world. We believe this is really important to boost the interest ahead of the Games, during the Games and afterwards,” said Mark Adams, head of the IOC’s media and communications department.
